Soon there may be scouting for all atheists:
UK Scouting has launched a survey to ask its members whether an alternative version of the Scout Promise should be developed for atheists and those unable to make the existing commitment.
Check out the link above so you can add your thoughts. It looks like the scouts want to embrace diversity, and this is a chance to end a division based on what a child thinks.
Hopefully scout members will embrace a scout promise applicable for atheist humanists, as they have for Hindus and Buddhists before.
The Girl Guides are thinking about doing the same. It seems a sea change in thought, helped by new people at the top of the scout movement, has helped this come about.
Hope they live up to the promise of welcoming all children.
