The photo above was taken forty years ago today by astronauts on Apollo 17, the last space mission that sent people to the moon.

Wherever we are, or wherever we are going this is our home. A beautiful celestial sphere hurtling through space, the inhabitants of which are barley aware. Only the changing seasons, dawn to dusk to dawn, are the clues this is happening as we get caught up in our daily lives.
So on the fortieth anniversary today of the photograph, take the opportunity to stop and stare.
This is our home.
