Sentenced to ten months using another person’s passport to gain entry to the USA (Sky News), one thing the media have not mentioned is what was Paul Harris, aka Stephen Lennon, aka Tommy Robinson, was doing for one night during September illegally in the United States as leader of the English Defence League (EDL).
Well, when emailing my concerns about EDL to Robert Spencer, director of Jihad Watch and best selling author The Truth about Muhammad and The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam (and the Crusades) he explained:
I’ve been in extensive contact with their leaders. Tommy Robinson and Kevin Carroll spoke at our Sept. 11 event. This is used to claim that I support racism, fascism, neo-Nazism, etc. That is false. I do not believe the leadership or the org. is as characterized in the UK media. I’ve had many discussions with them about the controversial photos etc. and have been repeatedly assured that they expel such people as are actually in the group whenever they behave in a genuinely racist manner, etc. The specter of a pro-Israel neo-Nazi group, as the media would have us believe, strains credulity. One or the other proposition has got to be false. After investigating, I believe it to be the latter.
I may be wrong in this, although I do not think I am. But that would be, at worst, an error of judgment. Your CEMB friends claim that my support for them, or non-denunciation of them, is evidence of secret racism and fascism on my part. That is just defamation.
The World Freedom Congress that day in 2012 was organised by Stop the Islamization Of Nations
The Congress is of particular importance as it is the first ever to address the implications of Resolution 16/18 of the United Nations Human Rights Council, the stated goal of which is to “combat intolerance, negative stereotyping and stigmatisation of, discrimination, incitement to violence, and violence against persons based on religion or belief,” but which is actually designed to restrict truthful speech about Islamic supremacism and jihad, so as to render the West mute and defenseless before the advancing threat of jihad and Sharia.
You can find full coverage of the EDL representation on Pamela Geller’s (executive director SION and a co author with Robert Spencer) on her Atlas Shrugs here.
Like other viewers I experienced audio problems but found this alternative video of Tommy Robinson speaking ,during his illegal visit, in two parts.
Death threats are never acceptable, and no one should have to fear walking the streets. That goes for everyone. The spark mentioned was a dozen protestors at the homecoming of troops saying they were going to hell and responsible for civilian deaths.
Geller’s shock that the USA is heading that way in the next ten years misses that it already has with the Christian Westboro Baptists who have picketed soldiers funerals with signs like “Thank God for dead soldiers” and “Soldiers die God Laughs”.
Praising the armed forces does not mean you should be taken seriously anymore than someone who demonises them and mocks their memory. We either allow free speech which leaves a bad taste in our mouths or we do not. Using the hate speech of a few to paint the big picture is disingenuous and inaccurate.
David Cameron destroying British culture with the Islamization of Britain? Robinson mentions demographics, and immigration suggesting that people are running away from hometowns but it will catch up with you. That multiculturalism does not deal with the problem that is Islam. It misses a crucial point – that segregated communities do not allow the very integration that gives communities the chance to homogenise over time. That it is happening with second and third generations from immigrants suggests that this can be overcome as people want to make a life for themselves.
The protest that he mentions a few weeks before this speech was here in Chelmsford where the video shows the football style chanting “Who the fuck is Allah?” that stems from the old hooligan outfits of the past that gave English football a bad reputation.
The police tactic of kettling that he talks about but does not mention, is a common practise much criticised. Perhaps most notably in the student fee rise protests denied food, water and toilet breaks for hours while held. This is not a unique thing that EDL experienced.
What I hope is that Robert Spencer will realise that perhaps, sitting next to illegal entrant Robinson during his speech, and having extensive contact was not the best thing in the world. There are better ways to tackle those that want sharia law and faith to trump human rights.
